Meet Our Keynote Speaker
Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens

FACCC is proud to announce that Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens will serve as the keynote speaker for this year's Advocacy & Policy Conference. A former member of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District Board, he now champions education and housing equity in the state legislature.
A longtime advocate for equitable access, affordability, and student-centered policy, Assemblymember Ahrens brings a deep understanding of how legislation shapes both the classroom experience and the future of the California Community Colleges system.
During his keynote, he will reflect on his own experience as a community college student navigating homelessness and housing insecurity, and how those challenges continue to drive his work in public policy.
Special Guest
FACCC is pleased to welcome Dr. Shirley Weber, California Secretary of State, as a special guest at the 2026 Advocacy & Policy Conference.
A nationally respected leader and longtime champion of equity, Dr. Weber brings decades of experience across higher education, legislative leadership, and statewide office. Her work has consistently advanced civic engagement, representation, and access across California’s public institutions.
During the conference, Dr. Weber will join faculty, counselors, and student leaders for a facilitated conversation focused on cultivating inclusive leadership pathways and strengthening representation within California’s community colleges.
We are honored to include Dr. Weber among the many voices contributing to the important dialogue at this year's conference.
